Activities

The club regularly hosts sewing activities and special project. All activities and projects are open to all club members.

Summer Mystery Quilt

The summer mystery starts in June and typically runs 3 to 4 weeks. This is a a shorter, smaller mystery with options to make a table runner, wall hanging, or lap quilt.

Details are announced in the weekly newsletter and posted in the Calendar.

Cost:  FREE   Registration is required in order to receive the clues via email.

Winter Mystery Quilt

Each year several members participate in Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltville Winter Mystery. Bonnie announces the theme and colors on Halloween. The clues start on Friday after Thanksgiving and are posted each Friday for 7 to 8 weeks.

This is a work at your own pace activity with no requirements. The group meets weekly to review the clue and see a related demo. This is a great way to learn new techniques. Most members choose to make a fraction of the units in the weekly clue. Then modify the final patter layout to make lap quilts, table runners, or wall hangings.

Cost:  FREE   See the Calendar in November for more details.

Sew-Ins and Special Projects

Sew-Ins are announced now and then for members to gather in the club room for sewing with a common goal.  Past Sew-ins produced Feminine Hygiene kits for women and girls displaced by the war in Ukraine, pajamas for foster kids with Arizona Helping Hands, dresses and other items for students and the community near the Navajo mission school in Rock Point, and school bags for local classrooms.

The Rip ‘N Sew club has a long history of sewing for communities here in Arizona and around the world. Members are encouraged to suggest and lead sew-ins and special projects.

Announcements are made in the weekly email newsletter and the posted on the clubroom bulletin board.
